The D Family- Charleson Park, Vancouver.

The ‘D’ family was the runner up in my Photo Shoot Giveaway Contest in March. Their ADORABLE, identical twin boys stole the hearts of voters… And it’s no wonder! Carter & Daniel are absolutely adorable.

We spent a fabulous hour together at Charleson Park– exploring, playing, running & laughing. I mostly hung back and let this little family do their own thing, while snapping ‘candidly’ on the sidelines. The results, I think, is a really ‘natural’ & alive looking session. Enjoy!

The R* Family

One of my very favourite things to do is to shoot a family in their own home. Some of my favourite images have come from these ‘in-home’ lifestyle sessions. Children & Infants especially, benefit from the familiar sights, sounds & comforts of home.

I think that we photographers are occasionally guilty of forgetting how it feels to be on the other side of this camera gear. As much as we try to make our clients feel comfortable and at ease, there is always a little bit of pressure and anxiety to look/behave your best. Children are very sensitive to this pressure and I believe that this is the #1 reason why they have melt downs and tantrums during shoots. The pressure can be just too much. This is all the more reason to keep their environments as familiar & natural as possible, to keep smiles on your faces, and to go out of your way to keep things fun & relaxed.

I shot this session at the R* Family’s home in Burnaby, BC. It was an absolutely beautiful spring day! We began the shoot in their home, and then moved outside for the last half of it giving their daughter, Stella, a chance to blow off some steam. The R* family welcomed their newest addition, baby Angus, last month and this shoot was the first time he’d had his photo professionally taken. He was a complete natural!

Pumpkin Patch!

First off- I should mention that this post is incredibly late. In fact, I likely wouldn’t have thought to share these images had a certain someone not poked me an not-so-subtle way (I love you, Liz!) However, I am a firm believer that it’s always ‘better late than never’ so in the spirit of that, here we go!

Last October I had the pleasure of joining Elizabeth & her fabulous twin girls Charlotte & Poppy (who were 17 months old at the time) to the Richmond Country Farms Pumpkin Patch. I grew up in this area, but it was my very first time visiting this particular Pumpkin Patch, and man was it fun! Hayrides, Sing-a-longs, Live band, Farm Animals, Free apples and of course, all the muddy, squelchy, messy pumpkin-adventure fun that you could ever dream of.

Charlotte & Poppy were so adorable tromping through the patch while they searched for just the right pumpkin, and Liz & I certainly had our hands full lugging their selections (and a couple of mucky toddlers!) back to the hayride! What a day!

Thanks to Richmond County Farm for a fabulous morning & to Liz & the girls for letting me tag along. Let’s do it again next fall!

Little Family

I have been a little bit MIA for the last few weeks. For that I apologize! I am sort of in the middle of my busy Holiday Season right now and have been shooting Christmas Portraits steadily every weekend. I was actually in San Francisco last weekend and had a blast with some of my favourite ‘regulars’ as well as a couple new clients as well! And now I am back in Vancouver and snapping Holiday Photos for some fabulous Canadians.

Keeping checking back for some sneak peeks into these Holiday Sessions and more.

Michelle

Michelle is a very dear friend of mine and she is soon to be the mother of two adorable boys. Tadhg is 2 years old, and the newest addition is due in early September. I’ve known this fabulous family since big brother Tadhg was only 3 months old….It is pretty incredible to watch them grow & multiply! I am beyond excited to meet the newest babe!

The ‘C’ Family

Image

Shooting this family was such a treat. For one- they are ALL extremely photogenic and they made my job as easy as pie. For two, I am so used to working with babies & toddlers that working with a 4 & 6 year old who were very outgoing and comfortable in front of the camera was a rare treat! We did this session in Vancouver’s ‘Olympic Village’ along False Creek. It was a beautiful backdrop for a beautiful family!
